This is especially true when one person is surrounded by unknown people. The first example is commonly found in a waiting room. There are three people sitting on a bench; two men and a woman. All of these people are showing a common behavior, all in which include having little or no eye contact. Another example of the way people interact is a slight variation of the previous case. The change is that the man and woman on the right know each other. They are in fact married. The man on the left has found himself reading a magazine in order to pass the time.
